3d gaming bluray wonder!

Pros: Plays games REALLY well in 2d and 3d modesGreat on battery life 5.5hours MAX personally tested.Excellent loud crisp speakers. Great highs and midsSharp clean display. Not full HD but Blurays and games look ExcellentBright illuminated keyboard. Raised keys Have a good solid popping feelusb 3.0 device ready (Would have liked an eSATA too but USB3 is the future)BluRays load quick and plays smooth as well as Youtube 1080p hd vids.3D Videos look absolutely Great!Cons: Textured finish feels REALLY plasticy but it beats the super glossy fingerprint magnets like HP laptops. The minimal glossy portions do look really nice though. Would prefer a matte finishBacklit keyboard could be a little too bright at times. The raised keys bleed a lot of the white led light especially when looking at in from an angle.ANNOYINGLY LOUD beeps when you adjust the volume. It not only beeps when you tap the volume button but will continue to beep as it raises and lowers the volume NOTE: its not Toshiba its the Realtek soundcard that makes the beep noise which can be muted in the volume mixer.The HUGE battery doesn't sit tight on the laptop so every time you set it down you get a clunk noise. In fact it will just completely wobble around when you shake it. Doesn't affect the functionality just the overall solid feel of the laptop.Tons of inflated pre loaded software!Other Thoughts: I've been using this laptop for 2 weeks straight now and i absolutely love it!The Eco mode button is truly amazing. It shuts off the backlit keyboard, cuts power to the bluray drive, de-tunes the processor,and actually shows you your power consumption essentially bringing up your battery life to 5 hrs.i got max about 5.5 with no wifi just photo editing. 4.5 hours of netflix streaming. 2-2.5 hours of playing need for speed hot pursuit with an xbox360 wireless remote plugged in. Also in Eco mode the laptop is almost silent. Right now the CPU fan is off and the hard drive is pretty inaudible.The 5400rpm hd is pretty fast. i swapped in an old 7200 WD Scorpio Black and using ATTO the 5400 hd blows it away.I've played Batman Arkham Asylum, NFS Hot Pursuit, and Civilization 5 on high to max settings in 2d and 3d and the GT540m kills!This is the best 3d, Bluray Burning, Gaming, gen2 i7, laptop on the market Price vs Performance vs Feature wise.

Mobile 3D Gaming Powerhouse

I've read the 1 Star reviews of this laptop but could not disagree more. I've owned this laptop for more than a year now and have had no such problems and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. What you get in this laptop you would have to pay almost double price for in any other laptop. 3D screen? Blu-ray burner? 8GB RAM in a laptop? i7 mobile processor? This machine is a beast and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing Borderlands 2 in 3D with the graphic settings set to High. So for the pros and cons...Pros: This laptop replaced my out of date Desktop computer. It runs even new games at high settings just fine. I have had no hardware problems AT ALL. The 3D gaming is more fun then you'd think. Playing the original Half-life in 3D through Steam was a BLAST! I really could go on for days about how wonderful my experience has been with this laptop.Cons: Only a few noticeable flaws exist compared to most laptops. First off, this laptop is on the heavier side, but lets be clear, this isn't an ultrabook. I have no problem using this for hours on my lap. Second, the fan can be a little noisy if your playing 3D games along with it running a little warm, but it's not terribly loud and the heat isn't overwhelming enough that I can't keep it on my lap.Conclusion: I would buy this laptop again and again. I'd recommend it to my friends. And if it dies in 2 months, I'd look to buy another one just like it!!Super happy with my purchase! Not to mention the free 4GB Xbox I got from Microsoft when I bought it :)

This is my second Toshiba laptop.With my previous Toshiba Satellite I had only positive experience.I have also 2 HP laptops(with AMD CPUs) and one MAC PRO Pro machine.Due bad experience with both HP laptops my decision was to buy PC laptop Toshiba.I got really bad experience from January this year when I got my new A665 Satellite 3DV8.I paid money for nothing.The issues starts at the very beginning of operation.NVIDIA GPU control panel window disappeared during my first session of use.Later when I had internet access after automatic software updates-BIOS,WINDOWS 7and e.t.c. laptop starts doing strange things.During switching from normal operation to screen saver,screen saver must be active however screen became totally black and it was impossible to wake up laptop.This was followed by restarting WINDOWS 7 with error messages than again same story.During updates of NVIDIA drivers was happen also troubles.Existing drivers were removed automatically during installation of newest driver's version however followed by error messages during installation.With other words instead of installing via automatic updates NVIDIA GE FORCE GTS 350M GPU drivers old existing driver disappeared.i am guessing that all my issues came from WINDOWS 7 updates BIOS updates and and NVIDIA updates.The biggest issue for me know is that I am out of the States 5000 miles and I have to search local Toshiba authorized re-seller for assistance.I will not recommend same Toshiba laptop for purchase.Still I have MAC PRO with me working without any problems and performing very good.Simply Toshiba lost me as a customer for all their products for close future.I don't know how they can reimburse me due bad experinse

Not a laptop to buy.

I bought this laptop three days ago, I thought it was going to be great as soon as i opened it. Instead on that first day it randomly turned off in the first 10 minutes of use, even though it was plugged in. I did not have any problems other than this on the first day. The second day I had problems with the laptop freezing for over five minutes, and had to reboot two out of the three times. On the third day it not only froze many times, but it also would not boot correctly, it just sat at the Toshiba page or a blank page for over five minutes before i decided to restart it and try again. It went in this order: power on, does not work, turn off, power on, does not work, turn off, power on, does not work, power on, finally boots correctly. This happened three times on the third day. Save your money and do not buy this laptop it is not going to be a reliable one.

loaded,fast and 3d action.

The lap top performs as indicated, with just a few upgrade to fully enjoy the 3d.Overall, runs smooth and cool. (fast)Window 7 is great, its been just a few weeks and I am full adjusted.I am not a hard core gamer, but I would think a lager screen would be a plus.The option to go external on a 3d ready t.v. , makes up for that (for me).Mouse pad work wonderfully, very sensitive to the touch, with the option to turn off while typing.Great sound and touch volume control, this is much better than expected. Truly entertaining!None of the negative issues which I've read here and other reviews.

Works very well

I have this in my house with only one 2TB HD. It works very nicely with no issues. I also use the iSCSI. the thine provisioning works well. you have to make sure you don't over subscribe. I have two printers hooked and being served by the device with no issues.Interface is OK. can be improved. Documentation can be improved as well.Media server is where it needs updates to catch up with the what is available on the market.Up load to Amazon S3 is very nice feature and it works well. Excellent for of site backup.

This server Rocks!

Hands down, this is the best server I've ever owned for my home. It's fast, reliable, stable and I love that I can access my data anywhere on the web. I've had the TS-219P for a month now and I'm still finding new things this thing can do. Every type of serving (FTP, Multi-Media, Web, photos, etc.) is readily and easily available with this unit. I love that I can remote access the administration settings and adjust everything I need with the well layed out administration menus. I even set up the WordPress Blog software under the apps environment and started a new personal Blog. Really cool stuff. There's so much more to learn as there's so many features this thing has. I'm really impressed with QNAP and the overall performance I'm seeing. I'm using 2 Seagate Barracuda drives with the RAID 1 (mirrored) option. Very simple to configure and it's good to know that if one drive fails, I can simply hot swap a new drive in without shutting anything down or any special handling. Great value to performance in my opinion. Well worth the price.

I am writing this review because I believe everyone should be aware of exactly what they are buying, and I do not believe Amazon did this intentionally, I believe it is just an error but please read on so you are aware of this unintentional error, Thank You.There are 2 different descriptions about this same model TV, the Sharp LCD model# LC42SV49U.The one on this page says 5000000:1 contrast ratio, but if you go to this web address for Amazon :( http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-LC42SV49U-42-Inch-1080p-LCD/dp/tech-data/B005D5LZZQ )it states 1500:1 Contrast Ratio. Which one is correct? In my experiences at looking at contrast ratios only a LCD-LED TV can give you such a high contrast ratio of 5000000:1, which this model is not. Please do not think Amazon.com did this on purpose, I am positive they did not. it's just an unintentional error. I have shopped with Amazon.com for 5+ years and have found them to be very honest and always have the very best of products for great prices and the customer service has been excellent, and I will always go to Amazon.com first for products I am looking for because they are such a reputable site and shopping with them has always been a very pleasant experience. Remember , for the best products and the best pricing always check with Amazon.com first, you'll be glad you did.

Terrific Monitor, But Know the Widescreen Basics!

You can't overstate the difference in going from a 19-inch CRT to a 24-inch LCD. If you use a PC a lot, it'll change your life. That's true for me even though I routinely use two monitors at the same time with an "extended desktop" in Windows XP Pro.The Dell 2407WFP is an extremely well-though-out, high-quality piece of hardware and I highly recommend it.But here are some things that you should know about extended-width monitors in general that I tried to find out before I bought this one, but couldn't:1. If your graphics card is more than a year old and currently supports a monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio, it probably will NOT correctly support the 16:10 aspect ratio of a widescreen monitor. Instead, it takes a 4x3 image and stretches it to fill the new widescreen. That means that photos will be distorted by being too wide, much like an HDTV does to a normal 4:3 television image.2. However, it's still worth it even with an older graphics card. Because of the increase in size, you can increase the resolution displayed by your graphics card to 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200. This will still have a "stretched" 4:3 aspect ratio, but you can get a lot more on the screen. For example, Outlook's three columns have enough space that the third preview column is as wide as a normal page. You can see a great many more Excel spreadsheet columns. Programs that will display a variety of items like Paperport have a lot more room to spread out and are MUCH easier to use. Programs that can't take advantage of the increased width as easily--for example Word or Internet Explorer--still look better on this monitor. Everything is still distorted by the stretched width, but you only notice it for photos--and you even get used to that. If you have a traditional monitor next to this LCD like I do, you can move the image to that monitor to eliminate the distortion if you're really curious about the difference. I quit bothering after a while.3. Newer graphics cards will support true widescreen capability, and then you really have something. Your PC probably came with a smaller widescreen monitor in that case. But don't sweat it if your card is relegated to the 4:3 aspect ratio.4. It also takes a newer graphics card to support rotating the display to portrait mode, which would be handy for Word and IE documents, for example. The PC graphics card enables and controls that functionality, not the monitor.5. Playing TV through this monitor is great but you have to be aware of a few things. First, the provided DVI port does not work with 1080i video output by the DVI port of a cable modem. For technical reasons that are over my head, this model does not support interlaced video. Apparently future versions may. Second, the composite ports ARE compatible with the output from a cable box and the resulting TV looks beautiful. There is probably loss from the additional data conversions on each end, but it's not noticeable. What IS noticeable is the fact that PC widescreen monitors like this one ALL have 16:10 aspect ratios, while widescreen TVs ALL have 16:9 aspect ratios. (That probably makes sense to someone, but I haven't met that person yet. It probably has to do with some perceived reduced utility when using PC programs on a monitor that isn't "tall" enough.) When the cable box outputs its video to the monitor, you don't get the slight letterboxing I expected with narrow dark bands at the top and bottom. Instead, the picture stretches vertically to fit the screen, much as it stretches horizontally for the 4:3 output of a PC graphics card. The result is that the picture is about 11% taller than it should be--not terribly noticeable but still there. If you instead route TV to the monitor through a Vista HD-capable PC, this problem will be eliminated. At that point, your PC will have the advantage of being connected to the monitor though the DVI port as well. The only disadvantages are the usual delays and vagaries of Windows over and above the cable box, but Vista is much better than XP in that regard. And of course, Vista gives you DVR capability.The only "con" specific to this monitor that I could find is that the settings for picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture are not "sticky". Once you set it up the way you want, it works great. But as soon as you change the input source from, say, the TV composite ports to the VGA PC port and back again, you have to start all over again when you activate either feature.

Fabulous!

My wife and I are professional photographers and do a lot of wedding business. We bought a Dell XPS computer in December with this monitor and I'm deeply and profoundly in love with it. At last, I can have a huge display for Photoshop and still have enough screen real estate for the tool palettes on either side.The monitor also has a built-in memory card reader for all of the popular formats and a bunch of USB ports. The add-on stereo speakers are surprisingly good.This is a terrific monitor for the money and makes photo editing a pleasure.

Great Mac/PC and Console Display

I was looking for a monitor that I could use with my MacBook Pro and my Xbox 360. I decided to get the 2407WFP-HC because of Dell's great reputation with monitors, the amazing specs, the many video inputs, and great reviews.I design websites on this monitor, I game on this monitor, and I use this monitor with standard applications: internet and word processing. This monitor can do it all!If you need this monitor for use with a Mac/PC: I totally recommend this monitor. Especially if you would like to hook up hour console to this baby. I wouldn't recommend this monitor solely for a console display...Here are several things I've learned:1. You must calibrate your color settings to make the monitor look really good. The default calibration is way too bright and not enough contrast. On a Mac, make sure to recalibrate it with the Apple Display Calibrator Assistant (through system preferences>display>color. BE SURE TO ENABLE ADVANCED OPTIONS. I couldn't calibrate it correctly without these options.2. A digital connection is a must for desktop use. There is a small difference between VGA and DVI - but when it comes to crisp fonts on the computer - make sure you've got a DVI. There is almost no difference with the 360.3. On the Xbox 360, some games look better than others. I was a little disappointed at first because Halo 3 didn't look as good as I thought it might (it does look really good, just not "breath taking"); but as many know, Halo 3 is not technically HD. On the other hand, Call of Duty 4 looks really good on the 2407WFP-HC. Other than that, gaming with this monitor is excellent. The size of the display is perfect and it looks really good with certain games (others not so much).4. The Wii is horrendous on this display. Flat-out.5. 2407WFP-HC doesn't have an audio in/out. This isn't a problem with me, but make sure you will be able to handle this technicality.6. The 2407WFP-HC is almost obsolete. The 2408WFP is almost here. The specs have already been leaked - the only difference is they are adding HDMI and a second DVI input. If you can't wait and don't really need HDMI I say go ahead and get the 2407WFPs. If you don't know, try waiting.

Great laptop!

This laptop is pretty fast for home use. I basically use it for the internet, social networking and games like farmville and I have no complaints with performance. Really like the look of the helios black finish and bright, vivid screen. Don't like the look of the keys much, they look dull, especially the gray function keys. But they are soft touch and feel good when typing. Not really an issue, just being picky.The touchpad is not overly sensitive as others have said. I actually have clicked on items that I didn't intend to while trying to scroll a page but it just takes some practice in getting to know how to use the touch pad properly. I don't accidentally touch it when typing at all. I guess it depends on how you position your hands when typing. And I love the pinch feature to expand the screen.The built in webcam, mic and speakers work great; was skyping with no problems. Battery lasts close to 4 hours. Laptop is light. Basically a great laptop, and good price for the specs.

my toshiba is very fast and lightweight. however, the speaker sound is not high enough, even at 100% so i always have to use headphones. also, the touchpad is not centered as you would expect. this makes it awkward to use and often my hand touches it while typing, which moves the mouse around. but overall, a good value.

Well-Priced, Full-Featured Laptop

PROS-It's got all the features you could name, like a DVD player, a mic, a webcam (though not a great one),USB 2.0, USB 3.0, SD card slot, etc.-Easy to set up.-Boot time: it takes about 15-20 seconds to turn on!-It's big, at 15.6 inches, but this may be a con depending on the way you look at it.-Trackpad supports two-finger scrolling and pinch-to-zoom.-Performance is quite snappy.-Overall a great value.CONSNot great design-wise.-Battery life; it's not great, and it can vary largely. Sometimes it'll last for 100 minutes, other times 200. It's also unusual about notifying you when your battery is low; it warns you when you only have 10% left, but sometimes it won't even notify you before hibernating.-Speakers are not that great.-Charger broke in a couple months; had to pay $70 for a new one.-Screen's resolution is not very good at all.Overall a very good device. If you want a full-featured, reliable Windows laptop for a low price, this may be one of your best bets.
